IN her quest to win the Miss India NKZN (northern KZN) pageant, Shanice Moodley hopes to inspire young women and teach them that there is more to life than their physical appearance. “It is my goal to inspire a revolutionary change in women, a change that goes beyond the stereotypes that women of every generation are burdened with. As women, we are more than just our body and our beauty. We are leaders, be it in our homes, communities and our workplace,” she said.Moodley will be competing against 17 other women from across KwaZulu Natal this Saturday, September 1, at the M L Sultan Hall in Ladysmith where the top three will be selected to go on to compete in Durban. Having just completed her Bachelor of Arts in Law and Politics, Moodley has gone on to further her studies and is currently doing her BA Honours in International Relations. “I love my career choice as it has taught me many valuable lessons. Through my studies I have come to know of many women out there that fearlessly take on the world and succeeded. I wish to be one of those,” said Moodley. She said that should she win the competition she would continue in her quest to empower women and be a role model to young girls all over. “Through my studies I have come to know of many women out there that fearlessly take on the world and succeeded. I wish to be one of those. I endeavor every day to be the best I can be despite every circumstance or challenge,” she said. Anyone wishing to sponsor Moodley can contact her on 061 824 2864.
