Shooting of senior official unacceptable

2016-01-27 06:00

THE shooting of senior public safety official, Pumla Dlamini, is indeed tragic, a disturbing situation and is not acceptable in a democratic country.

An officer of the law needs to be protected and safety ensured to help officials uphold the law of the country while in their call of duty.

SAPS must utilise all the resources at their disposal to apprehend the perpetrator and bring him before the court without further delay.

The stringent and legal procedures must be followed to ensure a successful conviction and an appropriate sentence for this heinous crime.

Failure to do this will distort this investigation.

Justice must not only be done, but be seen to be done, to bring closure to his wife, children and colleagues who were very fond of this gentleman.

May his soul rest in peace.

Actions such as these should be condemned by politicians and leaders across the board and must ensure that the perpetrators are prosecuted.
