NOT concerned with being labelled as beautiful or attractive, rather focusing on being labelled as a kind person with substance, Mikara Singh walked away with the title of Miss Entrepreneur and Miss Personality at the annual Miss India NKZN (northern KwaZulu-Natal) regional section of the pageant on July 20 at the Richview Civic Centre in Newcastle.“Hearing my brother scream out ‘yes’ when my name was called out as a winner and having my family and supporters cheer me on after the introduction gave me the proudest feeling,” said a grateful Singh. Singh had to initiate various charity drives and community work efforts to qualify her to win the titles as well as answering a rigorous set of questions while modelling on the catwalk and stated that she was a different kind of candidate in that her achievements in her life are based on the help she has given to others. Regional director of the Miss India NKZN, Vimmi Ramdaas said that the pageant will highlight and open many doors for Singh who will now form part of the 2020 executive committee where she will assist with recruiting other finalists for the pageant in 2020. “Mikara will play an important role for us this year in terms of charity and fundraising. Thus far we have purchased sanitary pads with funds raised and will be handing those over to disadvantaged communities and this year all Mikara’s community work will be highlighted on the Zee TV Miss India NKZN page on Facebook,” said Ramdaas. Ramdaas said that Singh winning the two titles clearly indicated the type of person she is, stating that Singh’s friendly soul allowed her to scoop the title of Miss Personality that was awarded based on the vote of other finalists. “I would like to just say thank you to all my family and friends as well as the sponsors and I look forward to joining hands with businesses to make an even bigger difference,” concluded Singh.
