CASP Genk’s Entertainment will host a talent show focusing on promoting local upcoming poets and singers from a range of genres; including gospel, maskandi, hip-hop, RnB and more; who think they have talent. The talent show takes place at the Grange Hall on December 1 from 11am and will be held in conjunction with a beauty pageant — Mr and Mrs Pietermaritzburg 2018. According to the founder of the talent show Andile Dlamini, the aim of the event is to uplift and help young artists that have just entered the industry: “We have a lot of artists in Pietermaritzburg and we want to give them an opportunity to showcase their talent. “We know that it is very tough in the entertainment industry, that is why we are giving them this opportunity — so that they can get exposure that will be a foundation in their respective careers in entertainment. “We will select the top three in the gospel and hip hop genre, and only one winner in all other genres. We are selecting three because we understand that there are lots of gospel and hip hop upcoming singers in Pietermaritzburg. “All the winners will be given an opportunity to record their music in our studio for free and we will work closely together with them in promoting their music,”he said. Dlamini said that this is a first for the talent show and his goal is to make it an annual event so that others also get an opportunity to shine. Each artist is only allowed to perform one song or one piece of poetry. According to Dlamini, more than 50 artists have already entered the competition, however they will also be accepting entries from artists who arrive before 11am on the day. There is no entrance fee for the talent show however there is a R50 fee for models who want to enter the pageant. For more information contact 061 747 8286 or 072 910 5843.
