Social event focuses on local fashion talent

2016-05-18 06:00

THE Pop Up Lifestyle Market (Pulm), a social event with an infusion of home-grown fashion talent, will be held at the Carbineers Gardens next to the city hall on 28 May from 11am to 5pm.

Pop Up Lifestyle’s public relations officer, Sandile Bhengu, said the event unleashes local fashion creativity.

“It’s a platform that uplifts youth and local brands. There are five fashion designers involved in this project. We started holding these fashion events in July. So far we have hosted four fashion events,” said Bhengu.

Bhengu said the event will enable “underground” designers to showcase their creations.

“The aim of this event is to provide a platform for local young entrepreneurs - designers, artists, chefs and brand owners - to showcase their products to the people of Pietermaritzburg and gain recognition.

“The Pulm concept was established in July 2015 and has been successful ever since.

“The people of Pietermaritzburg have come out in their numbers to support local talent.

“As the Pulm team, we urge up-coming designers to join us and be part of the youth culture of Pietermaritzburg.

“There is so much we can achieve if we work together and uplift one another,” said Bhengu.

He thanked the Msunduzi Municipality for allowing them to use the Carbineers Gardens.

“We would like to thank all the brands and designers who have been with the movement from the beginning. We appreciate your support.”
