SPCA Pietermaritzburg has released a statement saying that on the day eight of the lockdown, a number of dogs were unfortunately surrendered into their care.

SPCA PMB acting manager Roland Fivaz said: “While you are at home with your pets, it is a good time to find the hole that they might be escaping from, the gap in the gate or fence they can get through, etc and fix it to solve future problems.”

Fivaz further expressed the SPCA’s gratitude concerning the support they have been receiving from the public.

“But we are still concerned that we won’t be able to bounce back from funds lost due to our market shops being closed,” said Fivaz, adding that If anyone is in a position to donate R21 to the SPCA’s “21 Day 21 Rand drive” that would go a long way to helping them and the animals in their care; the can use the following banking details to donates:

Pietermaritzburg Spca

Standard Bank

Account Number: 250068052

Branch Code: 05-75-25

Current Account

Reference: Lockdown 21

In concluding Fivaz said: “Without the public’s continued support, as the SPCA, we can not do what we do. This lock down has shown me that we have a very caring community. From me and my team we thank you. Stay safe.”
