THE Department of Sports and Recreation in the
uMgungundlovu District donated sports equipment to 30 schools within its jurisdiction on Wednesday, October 11.

The department’s sports officer, Busisiwe Cele, said the donation was to equip schools with basic sports kits and asked school officials to ensure they are put to good use.

Sports organiser from Ndaleni School for the Deaf in Richmond, Zethu Mnyandu thanked the department not only for the equipment, but for ensuring the school and pupils are included in programmes that are organised by the department.

“Our pupils have been selected to represent the district and province in various sports codes and this December six of our pupils will be travelling to Cape Town to take part in a gymnastics competition.

“We believe our pupils have a bright future in sport and thank the department for ensuring they are not discriminated against because of their special need,” she said.
