THE “Look Good Feel Better” project under St Anne’s Hospital will be hosting a free two-hour workshop for people with cancer on August 18 at the hospital.Shubnum Ismael, St Anne’s Hospital marketing manager, said this is a way of supporting cancer victims. “We want to assure them that they are not facing this alone. “We want them to know there are people who care,” she said.Issues that affect cancer patients, including depression and treatment side effects, among other things, will be discussed. She said the Pietermaritzburg community is unaware of this support group and they want to raise awareness about it. “We want to make them aware of this support group. “Everyone is welcome whether you are a St Anne’s patient or not, medical aid or not and we have patients from Grey’s Hospital in this support group.” She said there will be make-up experts who will do make-overs at the workshop. “During treatment people face problems like hair loss and there will be people who will do their make up and teach them how to wrap a doek [around their head] when they have lost their hair. “This help them a lot because when they experience things like this they lack self-confidence. “When they leave the workshop they will have a different attitude,” she said.
