WITH the 2018 Comrades Marathon just around the corner, the IIE’s Varsity College Pietermaritzburg is proud to have a current student and an alumni running in the Ultimate Human Race this year.

Tsepo Jama (second year IIE Bachelor of Education Intermediate Phase) will be running it for the first time and Sibonelo Mashimane (IIE Diploma in Sport Development and Management graduate) for the 10th.

Having already completed a series of qualifying races, both runners have more than earned their place in this year’s challenge.

The tagline for The Comrades Marathon 2018 is “Asijiki” which means “no turning back” — something that both Jama and Mashimane have taken to heart. This Ultra Marathon is a benchmark of achievement, attracting more than 20 000 runners globally. — Supplied
