EDENDALE Football Association (EFA) will host an Easter Tournament from April 19 to April 22 at Wadley Stadium in Edendale.

This is an annual event that is aimed at bringing the community together and helping youth stay off of the street during the holiday time.

The tournament will play host to 24 teams, selected by the Edendale Football Association, who will be participating in three different categories: U13, U15 and senior.

Sanele Vilakazi from the EFA said the aim of their association is to promote and foster enthusiasm for the game within the association and local community and encourage the development of football within Edendale.

“During this tournament, our children get an opportunity to showcase their talent and skills on the field in front of the whole Edendale community.

“It also helps them to grow in terms of football because they get to learn different things from other teams,” he said.

Vilakazi said that although they are determined to make this tournament a success, they would appreciate it if they can get a sponsorship from anyone who is willing to assist with this year’s event.

“We would like to get sponsorship of footballing prizes/equipment (trophies, medals, kit, footballs and markers). The more sponsorship we can obtain minimises the costs to teams, players and parents.

“This is so important to us as previously we took the money from our own pockets and contributed towards this tournament. We would do anything to see this tournament become a success but sometimes it is difficult,” he said.

If you would like to assist, contact Vikalazi at 079 479 4490 or at 033 322 2478.
