PIETERMARITZBURG Girls’ High School matric pupil Hannah Anderson has been selected to fish for the South African Deep Sea Angling Association (SADSAA) in the upcoming Senior Gamefish National competition.

She will be part of the only junior team entered in this competition. The event takes place at Shelly Beach from May 21 to 25.

Her dedication to angling and the tremendous effort she has put in have paid off and she is absolutely delighted.

Hannah will now fish not only for KwaZulu-Natal, but also for South Africa. This means she will change from the KwaZulu-Natal black and white colours to a blue blazer and cream skirt, with the SADSAA badge and tie.

Local karate kid Kaitlyn Chloe Joseph (14), a Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School Grade 9 pupil, has been recognised for her achievements in Kyokushin Karate and has been graded first Dan Homologated, with special recognition by Japan. She received a black belt specially shipped from Japan with her name embroidered in Japanese and has been included in the records of the World Sabaki Federation. This means that her achievements in karate will be internationally recognised, even in Japan. — Supplied.
