ZANELE Zuma from Laycentre in Edendale has been chosen as one of the semi-finalists for Miss Teen United Nations.

This pageant is hosted to find a suitable delegate who will represent South Africa at the 26th annual Miss Teen International in India later this year in Johannesburg.

Zanele, who currently holds the tittle for Miss Grater Edendale Mall 2018, says she is delighted and she cannot wait to make the city of Pietermaritzburg proud in this competition.

“This is my second national competition. Last year I entered Miss High Schools SA and I made it to the top five which is one of the things that give me hope that I will do much better in this competition. I am very passionate about modelling.

“As a semi-finalist I am required to raise a minimum amount of R3 000 cash that will help me with the travelling expenses for when I attend this competition.

“I would urge people to please help me so that I can go there and do my best and bring the crown home. I am not doing this for me only but I am doing it for my community as well,” she said.

The Grade 12 pupil at Haythorne Secondary School said modelling is not only about winning or losing but it also about being the best that you can be and being confident about who you are.

“For me modelling is a platform that you can use to bring the positive change in the country. It also helps you appreciate the world more and makes you realise what you really want in life. My everyday wish is to help people the best way I can using this platform.”
