COMMUNITY Chest sends out a hearty congratulations goes out to all officials and sponsors of the Maritzburg Marathon for another successful race last Sunday. A special salute to Race Director John Hall for ensuring that every detail, from start to finish, was well planned and executed.

Community Chest conveys its gratitude to the officials of the Maritzburg Marathon for not only including them as one of the official beneficiary charities, but for also affording them the platform to market the cause of the Community Chest by hosting a stall at the Maritzburg Marathon expo and hosting a refreshment station, en route, during the marathon. The staff and volunteers had an enjoyable day cheering the runners on as they handed out water, energy drinks, and snacks and were humbled by the numerous appreciative runners who spared a valuable breath of air to say “thank you” to Community Chest for the refreshments and cleaning up of litter left behind by the runners.

Well done to all the runners and the best of luck for your training and upcoming races.

For those runners who intend to run Comrades 2019, the Community Chest appeals to you to consider signing up for Race4Charity under the Community Chest banner. In doing so, not only will you aim for a personal achievement but you will have the opportunity to give back to our community in the form of assisting Community Chest ensure that 6 000 children in early childhood centres receive a nourishing meal and quality education for a whole year.
