The wisdom and benefits of fasting

RAMADAN is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It has been prescribed upon the Muslims to fast in this month and it is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims all over the world observe total fasting between dawn and sunset in the month of Ramadan. The two strongest desires human beings have are the desires to eat and drink. If a person can control most of his desires, fasting for four weeks during the month of Ramadaan gives a person a complete training in self disciple. It is for this reason that many Muslims who have previously leading sinful lives, After passing through one month training of Ramadan, Become successful in creating the necessary will power and motivation to sincerely repent and change their lives for the better.

Fasting brings a wholesome physiological rest for the digestive tract and central nervous system and normalizes Metabolism. Fasting helps in the clearance of toxin from the body.

During fasting new toxins are produced from the food and the liver works full time to eliminate toxins. One of the benefits of fasting is that it strengthens the immune system of our body.

All creatures in nature including animal s and trees in the region of heavy snowfalls go without food for weeks and months and still survive. This process in known as hibernation.

Similarly trees shed their leaves during winter when they are not watered. They are in a state of fast, this condition last for weeks or months. At the end of their fasting season new leaves sprout forth, fresh flowers bloom and the trees bear fruit. Religions before Islam also had the concept of fasting in them. However fasting in some religions involves eating only fruits during fasting, whereas in other religion it is limited to avoiding the eating of meals cooked on fire. Some religion has the permission of drinking milk during fasting while others have the authorization of drinking only water during fasting hours, since Islam is universal religion it commands its followers to have complete abstinence from eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset.

The purpose of fasting is to curtail our carnal elements and accentuate our angelic element. Ramadan is the month to provide nourishment to the human soul. All The ingredients of food for our physical being from the soil of this earth because our physical being originates from earth.

However our soul was blown into our body an angel, a heavenly being, therefore its food must be something from the heaven.

There is a profound relationship between Ramadan and the Quran. Allah selected the month of Ramadan for the revelation of the Quran.

One of the biggest tribulation people get trapped in to find frivolous way to kill their time during fasting .the best thing to do during fasting is to read the Quran.
