TIP-OFFS led to the arrest of suspects aged between 32 and 54, who were in possession of drugs in Edendale recently.

Plessislaer SAPS spokesperson Captain Musa Ntombela said: “At around 8.30am on the day of the arrest, Plessislaer SAPS Crime Prevention members received information about a vehicle transporting drugs to Edendale.”

He said the police followed up on the lead and a vehicle matching the description given by the informant was identified on the Edendale main road. “SAPS members stopped and searched the vehicle and found drug tablets under the driver’s seat,” Ntombela said. The occupant was arrested. He said the police were then alerted about drug dealers operating from a house in Edendale. “The police went to the house and found drugs with a street value of R400 000 and R300 000,” Ntombela said. Two suspects in the house, a man and a woman, were arrested.

They appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on November 20. Plessislaer Station Commander, Brigadier Mduduzi Shezi commended the unit on their work.

At the time of going to press their court appearance result was unavailable.
