PIETERMARITZBURG tourism enthusiasts are to launch an organisation to boost tourism in Imbali township.

Mondli Biyela and Ndumiso Nzuza spoke to Maritzburg Echo about the launch.

The NPO is called the Edendale Imbali Toursim Organisation and will be launched on December 8 at the Manaye Hall in Imbali.

“At the launch we hope to bring together business people in the tourism sector so we can discuss ways to grow tourism in Imbali,” said Biyela.

They said business people who work with crafts, cultural groups and businesses related to the tourism sector are invited to the launch.

Biyela said the NPO is working on securing sponsorship for the programmes and workshops it will run at the launch and in the future.

“The aim of the organisation is to draw the attention of would-be tourists to the township, which will help grow business there,” Biyela said.

He said businesses that wish to be part of the NPO can become members at the launch.

“The advantage of becoming a member is that business people and their businesses will be part of a network of established entrepreneurs. We will host events and workshops for businesses in Imbali and in the long run will come up with a tourism route in the township,” Biyela said.
