NOT many people can say they schooled at, and now teach at, the same school, but for Ann Palframan, this is true.

Palframan has been a teacher at Carter High School for 30 years, the school she matriculated from. Apart from 1977 when she was in primary school and from 1983 to 1986 when she was in university, Palframan has spent her years at Carter High.

After 35 years collectively at the school she considers herself a true “Carterian”.

“I started my Carter journey as a new Grade 8 pupil when the school was only in its second year of existence and I feel very privileged to have had such a long association with such a great institution.

“I’ve seen many pupils change their lives around and accomplish amazing things. One of our major strengths is our incredible diversity.

“Our pupils have included a member of the Zulu royal family and the son of a former Premier of KZN, and an ex-street child,” she said.

Palframan said pupils and staff have also been privileged over the years.

“Our wonderful sports facility, our cutting-edge teaching and learning technology, the smartboards in the classrooms and the computer and media centres, the list goes on.

“My prolonged Carter experience has included great happiness and incredible fulfilment, lots of laughter and some sadness, but through it all I have, and will always, remain humbled and proud to teach here,” she said.
