A KWADAMBUZA woman hopes to get her life back on track after Edendale Hospital finally operated on her last week after months of pleading.Bawinile Malevu’s (47) stomach was getting bigger everyday after she endured a number of failed operations at the hospital.This was Malevu’s fourth operation after three failed attempts, and an attempt to fix the mistake they made after she had given birth in 2010.After the first operation, Malevu’s stomach started to grow bigger and she was in constant pain.Her last operation in September twas meant to stop the growing of her tummy, but the growing persisted.She went to Edendale Hospital to seek help and inquire about her the problem, but was told that nothing could be done to help her, and that she must go home and buy painkillers. She was told come back after six months. Echo reported the story on November 21, where Malevu shared how her life has been turned into a nightmare. After the story, Malevu was contacted by the hospital.“The hospital management told me that they have been informed about my case and it is being investigate,” she said.“They said they are going to assist me and try to do a small operation to my stomach, of which they did.“Since the operation I can see a change. My stomach is no longer growing,” she said.“The pain is also not as bad and I can sleep at night now. I don’t know how to thank Echo. Had you not reported the story, I don’t think the hospital would have helped me.“I was going to die here in my house because they refused to help me at first,” she added.Malevu said she believes that the hospital refused to help her because they knew the damage they have done.“I hope this time things will go accordingly. I have been through hell. I have been turned into a laughing stock because of this problem. I just want my life back now.”Malevu said that even though the hospital had agreed to help her, she still has plans to sue for the trauma caused and what she has been put through.
