LIBERTY Midlands Mall launched the H2O to Go with Operation Hydrate last week and East Coast Radio’s Damon Beard joined in this weekend when he campaigned at the mall for shoppers to donate water to the campaign. The mall received 3 169 litres of water.
Primarily a Liberty Midlands Mall initiative, the mall will work with partners to ensure maximum benefit. Shoppers are encouraged to drop off water at the mall information desk on 20 March in order to assist needy communities that are struggling during the countrywide drought.
“Even though some rain has fallen along the east coast of KZN, many water-starved communities are still in dire straits,” said general manager, Muhammad Varachia.
A donation of any size or quantity will be accepted, although five-litre sealed bottled water is preferred.
“Liberty Midlands Mall will also be contributing by donating over 1 250 litres of water,” said Varachia.
“The drought is a reminder that water is a precious resource and everyone needs to conserve it, even in times of plenty. The campaign is in its early days and the response from the community has been amazing, but we are encourage and push for greater participation,” he said.
