MARITZBURG United should be in good shape and in the right frame of mind to oust Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

The Team of Choice will lock horns with AmaKhosi on Saturday at 8pm at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium in the Telkom Knockout competition.

The boost is that the PMB outfit earned a point against Free State Stars away when they held them to a 1-1 all draw.

Finding the equaliser for United was the experienced Kurt Lentjies.

United’s reliable striker Evans Rusike says his team proved to be good travellers and strong enough to earn points or outsmart any side.

Rusike believes United is now playing as a unit and will surprise a lot of teams in the future.

“It is always difficult to play Chiefs at their home ground, but we will match them and eventually beat them. Our aim is simple and straight forward, and we want to proceed to the next stage,” said Rusike.

United communication manager Brian Zuma this week said Chiefs are in for a shock because his side will kick their Saturday opponents out of the TKO.

“We are only going to FNB to win.

“We respect Chiefs like any team in the PSL, but unfortunately, we want to qualify for the next round,” said Zuma.

Besides Lentjies, United will pin their hopes on Rusike, Deolin Mekoa, Sheldon van Wyk and Devon Saal.

There will be no love lost when another KZN side, Lamontville Golden Arrows, take on another Soweto giant, Orlando Pirates, on Sunday, at 3pm away at Orlando Stadium.
