United winless after three games

MARITZBURG United went without a win for their third game in a row on Sunday as they played to a goalless draw against newly promoted Stellenbosch away from home, much to the disappointment of coach Eric Tinkler.

Tinkler said that the 0-0 result showed that his side approached the game with fear, especially in the first half in which he stated that the Team of Choice lacked composure when they had the ball.

The match was a dull affair, with United captain and goalkeeper picking up the man of the match award for two fine saves made in the first half to keep the scores at 0-0, ensuring he walked away from the match with a clean sheet.

The match leaves Maritzburg United languishing at the bottom of the table in the relegation zone, a position they found themselves in throughout the last season.
