Upgrading the pride of Pietermaritzburg

2017-03-01 06:02

THE Imperial Hotel has been providing Pietermaritzburg visitors with comfortable accommodation for over a century. Today the Imperial still embraces the old world charm of its colonial past, including many of its original finishings, but owners, The Misty Blue Group, have decided to undertake a soft renovation to maintain the Imperial’s unwaveringly high standard of luxury and service.

The renovations, which will include the upgrade of public areas such as the atrium, restaurant and landscaping within the garden area, the additional rooms and the relocation of certain staff areas, are already under way to improve the hotel’s synergy and offer an improved experience for guests.

Other large alternations include the construction of 12 additional rooms to increase the hotel’s capacity while minor changes include new carpets in the guest and conference rooms and new tiling in the restaurant and courtyard.

“The revamp has been running very smoothly. Our guests are always our main priority and we are looking forward to providing them with an even better experience in the near future,” said the Imperial Hotel’s general manager, Rueben Chaibva.

Phase 1 of the revamp is set to be completed in March 2017.
