GROWING up listening to Bonginkosi “Zola 7” Dlamini inspired Phelelani Ntshiza to become a hip hop artist that inspires people through music.

Ntshiza (29) from KwaPata started doing hip hop music in 2009 and he recently shot a music video for his hit song titled Eita da that was shot at KwaPata Car Wash.

Speaking to Echo about his journey, Ntshiza said he wants to inspire people, young and old, to not give up on something they love.

He said although he is a rapper he also has songs that fall under the Afro-soul genre and turn up music.

“I do not want my music to have specific people that listen to it. I want it to accommodate everyone, young and old, because I use my music to motivate and inspire people that is why it is important for me to accommodate everyone,” he said.

Ntshiza said since he starting in the music industry in 2009 he has released three albums. The last album titled Sikhulu Lekasi was released in April this year and it has 21 songs.

“I gave my first two albums to people for free because I wanted to see if they are happy with my music and they indeed loved it. Every time I go to the studio I think about my fans and if they are going to like what I am doing or not, because at the end of the day my music is for them I need to give them the best all the time.

“My latest album is being sold at R50 a copy and it is doing very well.

“Since I became involved in music I have seen growth and I intend on doing much better ...

“One day I want to see myself doing a song with Zola 7 as my way of appreciating him for inspiring me to follow my passion of being a hip hop artist.

“There are other rappers that I would like to collaborate with but I would like to start with Zola 7 first.”
