PIETERMARITZBURG Duzi Table Tennis Club members excelled at the recent South African Veterans Inter Provincial and Open Championships held in Potchefstroom with members taking gold and bronze medals.

Representing the Duzi Club was Happy Amod, Sundres Govindasamy and Morgan Govindasamy, who all played under Savetts at the tournament.

Amod took the bronze medal in the team event of the 60+ division while Govindasamy won gold, beating Cape Town 3-0.

In the singles event, Govindasamy once again showed his class and table tennis calibre by reaching the finals in his age division and then beating Simon Diamant from Gauteng 11-9 in a thrilling and hotly contested final match.

Govindasamy has now gone on to win three gold and one silver medal in his age category over the last four years.

“In light of our success from the Duzi Club we want to emphasise that we offer free table tennis training at our club in Northdale,” said Govindasamy, and added that anyone interested in the sport can give him a call on 082 898 7271.
