TIME is running out to vote for Pietermaritzburg’s Maritsa Gouws, Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa 2016 finalist, as the finals draw closer.

Her journey began as a top 100 semi-finalist in March. Following a judging process, she was chosen as one of the top 25 finalists.

In the past six months, she has undergone many workshops which have been focussed on empowering her, in all facets of her life.

In July she attended the annual lifestyle challenge, hosted at Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl, Western Cape, where she focussed on fitness and lifestyle.

She has worked with our official charity, Cansa and hosted a Cuppa for Cansa and raised awareness within her community about the disease.

“This pageant has truly opened new doors for me and my aim to raise a substantial amount for CANSA has been realised. This pageant has empowered me and I hope that I have made Pietermaritzburg proud,” said Gouws.

Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa is more than just a pageant. It is a journey that empowers women all over the country and celebrates the essence of being a woman.

The finalists will stay at Emperors Palace for pageant week which runs from 17 to 21 October, and will be out to impress the celebrity judging panel including, Principal judge, Cindy Nell Roberts (former Miss South Africa), Vusi Zwane (Emperors Palace Peermont Hotel corporate affairs and corporate social investment executive), Zuraida Jardine (TV and radio personality) and Joan Madibeng (former Miss South Africa 2003 and businesswoman).

The grand finale production, on 21 October, will be hosted by Emperors Palace, featuring Minnie Dlamini as MC, and produced by one of Africa’s leading show producers, Jan Malan. It will feature a star- studded guest list of top South African talent and top leading South African designers, Werner Dey, Anel Botha, Khosi Nkosi and leading Canadian international clothing brand, Joseph Ribkoff.

South Africa’s Mrs World, Candice Abrahams, the reigning Mrs South Africa, will be crowning her successor on the night. The newly crowned Mrs South Africa will depart days after crowning, to represent her country at the Mrs World competition in Incheon, South Korea on 26 October.
