Walk against women abuse

2017-08-23 06:02

RESIDENTS are invited to join a walk against women abuse that will start in Victoria Road opposite Key Delta, finishing at Old Prison on Saturday, August 26.

The walk will start at 10am, followed by a programme of events at the finish.

This walk is organised by Ward 27 under the leadership of Manqoba Ngubo.

Muhle Mdunjane who is a co-ordinator of community-based care at the office of the councillor said they decided to organise this walk because there have been many stories of women being abused lately.

“Women abuse is escalating everyday. We want to raise an awareness. We feel that walks like these must be a regular occurrence so that people learn their rights. People need to know that this is wrong and they must not tolerate abuse.

“Men must stop abusing women. We ask people to come and support the initiative,” said Mdunjane.

Mdunjane said abuse doesn’t only affect women but their children too.
