Walk for teenage pregnancy awareness on Saturday

2016-05-25 06:00

THE Source of Hope Youth Foundation (SOHYF) and RivLife International, two NGOs in Ward 34, are collaborating in an event to raises awareness around the issue of teen pregnancy.

KwaZulu-Natal has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the country and the problem seems to be growing, unabated. Studies have also shown that the prevalence is much higher in poorer communities.

To highlight the issue an awareness walk is being planned for 21 May starting at 9am at the Eastwood Library. The walk will go through parts of Eastwood and Cinderella Park and finish at the RivLife Community Centre in Cinderella section A where a formal presentation will take place. The community is asked to join in the march.
