WITH the international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls — the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign — in progress; Ward 34, its War Room and their stakeholders embarked on a peaceful walk to raise awareness about the campaign on Friday, December 6. The walk started at Cinderella Park and ended at the Eastwood Community Hall.

According to Sheledean Frank of the Shekinah Community Development Organisation, the walk was a success.

“We also had a prayer session for all the victims who are at risk or who have lost their lives through gender-based violence,” said Frank, adding that they also hosted Kemsley Baaitjies, who is an ex-offender, to educate young people through sharing his life story and the lessons he has learned.

“We would like to thank all of the stakeholders who made the event a successful one and a special thank you to PACSA for your support with t-shirts and Master Prints for the support with print work and the banner,” said Frank.
