JUST Build’s Ward 34 Annual Sports Day held at Panorama Primary School at the weekend was a huge success and attracted a lot of teams.Although it was a Ward 34 event, teams from other areas such as Sweetwaters, Imbali, Edendale, Table Mountain, Tamboville and Thembalihle also attended.Altogether. 18 teams participated and they were divided into two divisions (seniors/open and U17).The winners of the seniors/open section were Siyabonga, who outwitted Panorama FC in the thrilling final by 2-0. The U17 final was between Ezinye Zazo and Gugulethu. Ezinye Zazo were victorious after winning 5-3 via a penalty shoot-out.The founder, organiser, community activist and local veteran journalist Jerry Barnes said that looking at the history of the event, this year was well attended and attracted a lot of teams.“Just to think that many years ago this event started with only two local teams from Panorama, and this year’s event was indeed huge with many more teams,” said Barnes.Barnes highlighted the important role played by the event’s official sponsors Just Build. “We would like to thank Just Build for joining hands with us. They made a big impact and really took the event to another level. I am pleased that our relationship will go far,” he said. Just Build managing director Naseem Badat said the event was a good community project and it means a lot for his company to join hands with Ward 34. “We felt it was very important to be the part of the ongoing community exercise.
