THE SPCA Pietermaritzburg Village Market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 12pm. Outside stallholders welcome. Phone 033 386 9267.

The Pietermaritzburg Farmers’ Market is held on Saturdays from 6am to 10am at the PMB Botanical Gardens in Mayors Walk. Inquiries: Mike at 082 886 0687.

Tatham Pop-Up

POP in to the Tatham Pop-Up on Saturday 3 December from 10am to 4pm at the Tatham Art Gallery. Stall holders include Arusha Gallery (wooden artefacts) Eicke Schmidt (unique hand-crafted jewellery), Dawood Designs (hand-printed fabric items), Boston Terrier Rescue Group (doggie treats and blankets), Midlands Arts And Crafts Society (Macs), Mpophomeni Conservation Group (Mnandi recipe books), Peter’s Gate (natural herbal products), Phillip and Innocent Wire Work, Jemma Mitchell Jewellery, UKZN and DUT students, Thembi Nala (Izinkamba), Zama Cele (beadwork and gallery shop sale table) and Zimele (self-sustaining craft project supporting women).

Mr, Miss and Mrs PMB

ENTRIES for the Mr and Miss Pietermaritzburg 2016 are now open. Anyone between the ages of 16 to 25 can enter. This year Heat to Beat Events have introduced a new category, Mrs Pietermaritzburg. All mothers are encouraged to enter. Entrants will model in three outfits, casual, themed and evening wear. Cash prizes, photo shoots and other prizes to be won. Hospice tree of lights service

MSUNDUZI Hospice invites family and friends to its Remembrance and Tree of Lights Service. This service will give you an opportunity to take time to remember a special loved one and to light a candle in memory of them. It will be held at the Hospice Conference Centre, 206 Zwartkop Road, Prestbury on Friday, 9 December. Everyone to be seated by 6.30pm. R30 per light. Smoking Dragon Festival

THE Smoking Dragon Festival is back for its sixth year and has expanded to four stages including the Main Stage, Cherch Electric Jungle, Fringe Stage and the sparkling new Ripple Zone, complete with a dam, look-out deck and bar. This year they have packed over 40 acts into this three-day festival from 29 December to 1 January, 2017. With the best in local talent from all over South Africa already announced including Grassy Spark, The Rudimentals, The Kiffness, Tidal Waves and so many more, Smoking Dragon is making this a New Year to remember with the addition of the supremely talented Stelth Ulvang of The Lumineers and Tudo Mundo. Full weekend tickets are R695. Basic festival ticket which will grant the buyer access to the event grounds, basic ablution facilities (hot showers are an additional R25), main food court and bar. A full weekend pass costs R695, day pass on 29 December costs R250, evening pass on 29 and 30 December costs R550, day pass on 30 December costs R350, evening pass on 30 and 31 December costs R700 and day pass on 31 December costs R400. A VIP campsite for the full weekend costs R695. There is also a children’s zone available for R200 for the full weekend. Ticket include access to the jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, DStv and chill lounges, private cocktail bar, self-catering kitchens, and free hot showers.

Eston Xmas Classic

THE Eston Xmas Classic presented by ‘Thirsti’ will be held at Virginia Trails on 27 November and promises to be a great day out for the avid Mountain Biker and Trail Runner. With the emphasis on festive cheer, prizes will be awarded for best dressed Festive Rider or Team. Get creative, forget about timing and racing and enjoy a ride and run through spectacular terrain. Pop-up Christmas fair

INDWE Risk Services will be hosting a pop-up Christmas fair at Yellowwood Café at 1 Shafton Road in Howick on 27 November from 9am to 2pm. There will be a miniature petting zoo, jungle gym, bike track and lots of stalls with exclusive Christmas decorations available.

Weekly mediation classes
