WHO findings prompt funny side of things

2015-12-16 06:00

THE frightfully scary, terrifying findings about the dangers of cancer in the media recently about the eating of red meat, processed meat, sausages, wors and bacon prompts this response.

Indian menu (all sheep).

Tripe and beans (Gadra), masala fried liver, braised pluck (includes lungs, liver and gullet), trotters in broad beans, head cooked with peas or soft-cooking potatoes, and the ubiquitous brains and tongue with fresh peas, and the supreme braised mutton curry with gravy-soaked potatoes. Oh la la.

White and black people also love the above-named offal. They prefer them cooked or prepared according to taste.

Some examples of the white taste - roast beef, sausages and mash and gravy, tripe and onions, and the inevitable braai, etc.

Examples of the black tastes - boiled tripe, head (cow and sheep) and the mouth-watering shisa nyama, better sounding than the braai.

What next? Did you ever see the cow, the sheep, the goat and the pig huddled together with their heads touching with a broad cheeky smile on their face. I suspect that the pig being smarter than the rest had read the article on the findings.

Mr Editor, please pardon me for apparently treating the subject lightly, but you will agree with me that this oftentimes dull world is in serious need of some laughter and humour, after all, laughter is the best medicine.
