Woodhouse Road bridge closed until further notice

2015-12-02 06:00

WOODHOUSE Road bridge will be closed to both motor vehicles and pedestrians as of 4 December until further notice. In a notice sent by Msunduzi Municipality it stated that this decision was taken due to the many incidents that have occurred on the bridge over the year. “Over the years, council has received reports of vehicles and pedestrians being swept or washed off the causeway by strong currents resulting in multiple deaths especially during the rainy season. Based on this the Executive committee granted the infrastructure services business unit permission to close the Woodhouse Bridge during rainy season in order to prevent more deaths of road users,” said Nqobile Madonda, acting marketing and communications manager of the municipality.
