IN celebration of Youth Day, the Woodlands community banded together to host the Woodlands Youth Bash on Sunday, June 16.

“It was an absolute pleasure to see how successful the day was given that we have been planning this for the last five months,” said community activist Rachel Hemmero.

Hemmero said that about 500 people were in attendance at the Woodlands Stadium to participate in the day’s celebrations, that featured a fun run, various kids activities, soccer tournaments, food stalls (including a free food stall for the underprivileged), a car show and a musical concert that concluded at 11 pm.

Various churches, businessmen and people of the community are to thank for the day that was free entry to the general public.

Hemmero stated that the event was a day to celebrate the youth of Woodlands, who she claims are making a positive impact on their environment.

“Our community is slowly but surely starting to uplift our members and it is encouraging to see, especially with the passing of this Youth Day.

“We are proud of our coloured community who are standing up for themselves and the community,” said Hemmero.
