A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD from Elandskop will be representing Pietermaritzburg in the Miss and Mr Ushaka Marine World pageant that will be held on September 13 in Durban.

Zenzo Mpofu, who is in Grade 2 at Marion School, is one of the 17 finalists that will compete for the crown.

Her mother Nozipho Ngcobo told Echo that she is very excited that her daughter has made it this far in this competition.

“She started with auditions around June and she made it through to the semi-finals and now she is in the finals. She has done very well in this competition and she is close to winning the title. I am so proud of her. She has made us proud,” she said.

Ngcobo said her daughter entered this competition after someone told her about it. She said her daughter started modelling at the age of three.

“I started to see her talent in modelling when she was only two-years-old. Whenever I ask her to pose for a picture she did it so perfectly and I just knew that I have a model. I tried looking for a modelling agency for her but they told me she was too young at that time.

She only started modelling when she was three.

She loves modelling, you can tell by the excitement in her whenever she is going to her modelling classes or competition.

“I try my best to show her support because it is something that she loves. I want to be there for her every step of the w ay until she goes very far because she is really talented. Even when she plays with her friends she would wear high heels and sometimes she scares me,” she said, laughing.

Ngcobo has recently won Miss Marion 2018 last week and she came second in Miss Greater Edendale Mall in 2015.
