HANNAH-ROSE Milton (20), from Scottsville says she did not expect to win the Memorable Order of Tin Hats and its Women’s Auxiliary (Mothwa) trophy at the Pietermaritzburg and District Dugout Air Rifle competition at Allan Wilson Shellhole in Scottsville recently.

Milton, who represented the Up North Mothwa, said she only went to have fun.

“I felt so proud I could win the title as an Up North Mothwa as we have different Shellholes.

“My dad and I looked up for shooting techniques on the internet and decided to try them at the competition. I had only shot once before and was only a visitor back then.

“Winning this title means no matter where you come from, no matter if you are the ‘underdog’ or if you only do something once, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. My goal is to be a role model to those less fortunate.”

Milton said as the youngest KZN Mothwa she takes pride in the accolade as she gets to help and serve those who fought for freedom.

Anyone interested in joining the Mothwas can contact Marie Becking, head of the Up North Mothwa on 072 214 0086.
