A YOUNG girl from Thornville dreams of being a professional swimmer one day.

Anele Ndlovu (12), who is in Grade 7 at Prestbury Primary School, started swimming when she was in Grade 1 and since then she has not stopped.

Last Thursday, she was announced the overall winner in her age group at a gala that was held at her school.

Anele’s mother, Thandeka Nzama, said she is very proud of her daughter and as her parent will do anything to make her child’s dream come true.

“She will be moving to high school next year and we do not know if there will be any swimming classes for her anymore.

“We are therefore appealing to anyone who can help us and our daughter to guide us on how to go about making sure that Anele stays on track with her swimming.

“ We would love to see her participating in big competitions one day but that will not happen if we do not get the help from our fellow community members of Pietermaritzburg.

“We do not know much about swimming but we will accept any help from anyone who knows more about this sport and is willing to assist us,” said Ndlovu.

She said that since Anele started swimming, she has always been placed first in her age group in competitions.
