Youngsters to uplift elderly

2019-07-03 06:02

AS part of their yearly charitable initiative dubbed “Christmas in July”, the St Luke’s Church Youth Group, situated in Woodlands, has identified the Isabel Beardmore Home for the Aged as their beneficiary this year.

As part of the initiative, the youth group has set out to spoil the community elders this year through various activities.

“We plan on pampering our old folk by serving them cake and tea, spending time chatting to them and making boxes of items as gifts which will be presented to them,” said one of the coordinators of the initiative, Brenda Jordan.

Identifying 40 males and 30 females from the home, the youth group will provide the elderly with boxes of items including soap, deodorant, face cloths, body creams, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and other items.

“We are appealing to families and organisations to please contribute to this initiative.

“Our old folks are so precious and we want to warm their hearts this winter,” said Jordan, adding that people can decorate the boxes the items come in for that added extra touch of love.

If you are able to assist please contact Nazleigh Henry at 081 032 2708, Cuan Gallant at 082 559 1240 or Brenda Jordan at 064 996 4269.
