The Sunridge Village Family Run/Walk will be held on Saturday 20 May 2017 at 07:00.

Being the 11th anniversary of this sought after event, organised by the Port Elizabeth Amateur Athletic Club and Sunridge Village Shopping Centre, it promises to be the greatest to date.

Since inception this event has grown year on year and has become one of the most successful and popular events on the athletics calendar for both professional and amateur/family participants. “We welcome the star runners from all over the Eastern Cape”, said Les Barnes, president of PEAAC. “It is so encouraging to see the hundreds of primary school runners and family participation at these events.”

This will once again be a fun filled family affair with fantastic hampers, lucky draws and some major prizes. These include a R2 500 shopping experience from Sunridge SuperSpar, a major sponsor to the event.

“Although an official EPA Participating Road Running League event, it also caters for the whole family with distances of both 5km and 10km,” said Suzanne Fincham, Centre Manager at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre. “The school with the most bulk entries in the 5km race will earn themselves a R1 000 prize, so we encourage all schools to participate and support the event. There is also a special prize for the company with the most bulk entries”.

Other fun category prizes include first Family Home, Parent and Pram, Dad and Dog and Mom and Tot.  However, there is a restriction of 1 dog per entry. Entrants wanting to qualify for these special prizes must indicate this at registration.

Timed results will be available for both the 10km and 5km events. These will be posted on the windows in front of Sunridge Build It shortly after the prize giving. Pictures and results will also be available  on our website www.sunridgevillage.co.za.

Their aim this year is a record breaking 2 500 competitors.

“It can be done, as this is one of the biggest and most sought after events in the Metro,” said Shane Brown, chairman of the organising committee.

Festivities kick off on Friday 19 May at 17:00 with pre-registration and late entries in the mall (same place as last year) at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre situated on Kragga Kamma Road in Sunridge Park. Take-aways, restaurants and selected stores are open for a bite or something to drink or buy till late.

Various stores at the Centre, the Sunridge Neighbourhood Watch and Framesby High School will be manning the water points on route, with a watering hole for dogs at the first water point. Prize giving will take place directly after the race at 09:00 in the area adjacent to the Keg & Swan.

Entry forms are available at all shops at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre, as well as sports shops in Nelson Mandela Metro.  Entry forms can also be downloaded from www.sunridgevillage.co.za.

Additional parking is available in the park at Camelia Avenue off Aster Avenue close to the centre. Contact Centre Management on 041 360 9442 or Elmarie on 082 964 0751 for further information.
