THE Rother Swain Drama Studio will stage Alice in Wonderland at the Pemads Little Theatre in Belmont Terrace, Central from September 6 to 12.

In Wonderland the audience can meet some of Lewis Carroll’s outrageous characters, such as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare.

This version, adapted from the book, will also feature some characters from T

hrough the Looking Glass and will have a few original touches for the child of today.

“We wanted to get back to basics and give the children an opportunity to break away from musical theatre, and to stage a straight play version of Alice,” said co-director Linda-Louise Swain.

This version will concentrate on the theatrical basics of projection, characterisation and interpretation; leaving behind the digital world that has become so much a part of today’s living.

“Alice is an ideal vehicle to give every child an opportunity, with its episodic nature of introducing all the weird and wonderful characters from this everlasting classic,” said Linda-Louise.

A total of 110 children from both primary and high schools, will feature two casts.

Tickets are sold at R 70 each, and can be purchased through
