They ordered the PE Express photographer to put his camera away.

A resident of Beachview who requested anonymity, claimed that there is an influx of people who seem to stay at the resort.

“Every morning and afternoon there are long lines of people walking in and out. How does this make sense, with the resort being closed?”

Repeated attempts to get in touch with the management company, failed.

According to Gustav Rautenbach, Chief Whip of the DA in the Bay, the company allegedly started the renovations unlawfully.

“I was able to ascertain that the resort was closed because the managers of the resort proceeded with repairs and renovations without the consent of the municipality,” Rautenbach said.

The matter is now in the hands of the municipality’s legal department, according to Rautenbach.

In response to Rautenbach’s allegations, municipal spokesperson Mtubanzi Mniki confirmed that the metro’s legal department is involved in discussions with the resort management.

He, however, did not want to answer questions about the nature of the talks because it would put the municipality “in a vulnerable position.”

Mniki could also not answer questions about when the resort would possibly reopen
