TICKETS are now on sale for the follow-up to last year’s successful revue, Page to Stage and this new production is called Page 2 Stage.
Presented by the Port Elizabeth Gandamp;S Society as its first major production for 2015, Page 2 Stage is once again devised and directed by Rose Cowpar, with musical direction by Richard Campbell. “The cast of 35 aged from six to 70-something will thrill audiences with more than 30 great songs from the best-known musicals that are based on much-loved novels, poems and even movie scripts,” Cowpar said.
“Many of our favourite musical shows are based on well-known novels such as Les Miserables, Oliver! and The Secret Garden to others far better known for their stage versions, including Chicago, The Sound of Music and South Pacific. This revue will bring to the stage songs from more than 30 shows, some making their PE premiere, and all from musicals that began their life on paper,” she said.
Cowpar and Richard Campbell, who also joins the on-stage antics, are supported by choreographer Andrea Morris, who has created some stunning routines, most notably for Jellical Cats from the musical Cats and Time of my Life from the blockbuster Dirty Dancing.
“The energetic cast is guided through the songs by our Book Club led by stage veteran Yolande Farrow,” Cowpar said.
“Featured soloists include Showtime Award winners Jenna Deysel and Glen McIlroy, plus Charl Vollgraaf, Kerry-Lee Jeffrey, Anke Staphorst, Ann Yates and Derryn Fuller to name just a few.
“Gandamp;S is excited to introduce an incredible young opera singer, Khuselo Gqiba, to PE audiences, and the multi-talented Palmer sisters Amy, Erin-Ashleigh and Georgia-Jo all appear on stage together for the first time.
“Our junior company led by 2015 Miss Pre-Teen Face of South Africa Serena Escola leaves no doubt that the future of musical theatre is in good hands, from tiny six-year-old Mieka Swanepoel to Dylan Jeffrey, who made his debut in last year’s revue.”
