HeadSmart Hair Academy is an International Hairdressing Training Institution in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, which is fully accredited through City andamp; Guilds as an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and FPA (Final Practical Assessment) Centre. Through the RPL process the Academy can assist students who have not completed their hairdressing course by assisting in their unique requirements in becoming qualified hairdressers.

The proud owners of HeadSmart Hair Academy are Lorine Smit and Elize Nel. Lorine has been in the hairdressing industry since 1981, lecturing at PE College for 27 years. She is a highly qualified hairdresser in ladies, gents and afro, as well as an assessor and moderator. She was involved with trade testing in the Eastern Cape and has been involved as Wiseman with the Eastern Cape Championships. She also owned her own hairdressing salon, Lorine’s Unisex (Newton Park) for 16 years, but her love and passion for hair inspired her to pursue her dream and open up an academy after she realised that there weren’t enough schools offering a bright future for the beauty and health conscious. After craving a unique and creative environment, Elize decided to leave the sales industry after 11 years, and together with Lorine started up HeadSmart Hair Academy. Her goal is to develop and maintain a high standard of hairdressing and also strives for HeadSmart to be performance leaders in the industry and to provide quality education.

The City andamp; Guilds Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is globally recognized and also locally accepted by the Industry.

REGISTRATION FOR 2016 has already opened for full time and part- time and space is limited. The course duration for full time learners is 1 year theory and 1 year practical. Once successfully passed, students will qualify for their Final Practical Assessment to become Qualified Hairdressers.
