Rika Carstens, ’n gr. 6-leerder aan die Laerskool Newton Park in Port Elizabeth, is die gelukkige wenner van Liberty Life se tekenkompetisie.

Dié kompetisie vir laerskole in die Baai het in Oktober afgeskop en leerders moes vir een van twee afdelings inskryf – inkleur of teken.

Rika, wat hoop om eendag argitektuur te swot, se kunstige voorstelling van perde het haar R15 000 in belegging in haar studies ná skool deur ­Liberty Life besorg.

“Ons is baie trots op haar,” het Pine Pienaar, die hoof, gesê.

“Sy kon net inkleurkryt en viltpenne gebruik, maar het tekstuur geskep deur byvoorbeeld op ’n sementvloer in te kleur om die growwe terrein van die grond voor te stel.

“Sy was nog altyd mal oor perde en daar was geen twyfel oor wat sy sou teken nie. Toe Erika Lawrence, ’n verteenwoordiger van Liberty Life, Rika se ma skakel om hulle die nuus mee te deel, het sy gesê die tekening het telkens bo al die ander uitgestaan as die gevorderdste binne die ouderdomsgroep.”
