A RECENT report on the Kragga Kamma sub-station received massive response from PE Express readers, with varying opinions on the situation.

In total ten suburbs connected via the Kragga Kamma substation are currently exempt from load-shedding.

According to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro’s Director of Communications, Roland Williams, this will change only once the substation is refurbished - and that may only happen by next year.

PE Express readers took to SMS and Facebook to share their views:

) Not sure if this Kragga Kamma substation has anything to do with load-shedding in the Gelvan Park/Parkside area but we have not had load-shedding for more than a month now. My mum is a pensioner staying out in Bethelsdorp area and is subjected to load-shedding three times a day. I would like clarity on this.

) I agree that everybody should be treated the same. Everybody should then have load shedding. If you go to the government buildings you would be shocked. They run the air conditioning and two to three bar heaters. To crown it all, they are not in the office. So why must we pay for people who waste? The government should clean their house then they wouldn’t have to implement load shedding. They lead by example. Thanks Sandy

) The substation on front page news didn’t breakdown this week or last month. We know residents in Framesby and Sunridge who laugh at us having loadshedding and they never had loadshedding ever when it started last year, so this has been known for a long time and it was and is fine with the municipality that all other areas are getting shed every day with a norm of 2/3 times a day when supply is low. Look at today’s schedule. We are group 8, if it were stage 2, we would have been off 4 times at 2 hours a shot and geysers are turned off twice a day extra with loadshedding.

) Lawack’s comments are a typical example of “Don’t let the sun shine on others” A Malan.

) Yes Iand#039;m also sick and tired of this load-shedding. Why must we sit in the dark for up to 2-hours and we cannot enjoy watching TV. I agree with Jonathan Lawack. It’s not fair. It’s time Williams jacked himself up as well as the municipality. We must stop paying for things? Godden

Bekommerde inwoner.

) I agree with Jonathan due to 2 load-sheddings a day at Newton Park area. In the last 6 weeks my electricity garage door, TV, hairdryer, house alarm and my microwave are all not working. I need to fix these. I am a single mom with a small salary. How in the world can I fix all of these costing thousands of rands? You go, Jonathan!

) Unfair load-shedding smacks of sour grapes. Fin

) Why is Heath Park area above Stanford Rd (the reservoir side) not subjected to loadshedding?

) Thanks for the article about load-shedding. I am one of the people feeling it is very unfair that we always get load-shedding in group 8 Lorraine but other areas also falling under group 8 like Algoa Park and Parkside also have stopped getting load-shedding. They have always gotten with us but last few months they have had no load-shedding. Also Cotswold has had no load-shedding for a very long time now. Why must only a few areas always get load-shedding yet others have their lives as normal with electricity. I would like this to be investigated as Roland Williams said. The problem will never get fixed if only a few areas are affected with load-shedding. Thanks Anon

) Load-shedding not in some areas, so what is unfair and unacceptable? What about those people who have illegal electricity connections? At least we pay. Now that is unacceptable and unfair. Joy, Framesby Extension

) We are group 4 and as Group 8 we are on the short end of the stick with load-shedding all the time. Not fair that only a small percentage of people carrying the load. Yes it is not the residents’ fault but I hope that when they come on stream with load-shedding that the areas that were load-shedded all the time will be taken off the list for the same period of time.Nanetta Morrison.

) We are group 8 and we have load-shedding so much, cannot understand it. Redhouse and certain other areas do not even know what in the world load-shedding means. Why? So strange. Can someone shed some light (pun) on the matter, Marelyn Holtzhausen

) This is utter bull! Unfair to the rest of us having to suffer with load- shedding. This is unacceptable, Basheera Brooks.

) Wonder where Seaview-Beachview substations are? Fifie Liefie.

) Good news for us. Sorry for the bad news for the other areas. Hope by then Eskom has sorted themselves out, Johanna Danoher.

) It’s not our fault, It’s the substation that’s causing all this. Not being upgraded and serviced regularly! We feel sorry for you but nothing we can do! Its just our luck! Pauline Breetzke Bekker.

) More and more subs will go and then darkness. Get your candles ready, Daniel Els.

) Not Fair... Ha. Ha. What did the rest of us do wrong? And more to the point, does that mean the remainder will get “double rations”? That sucks, Barbara Nixon.

) They should pay more rates and tax than us, Karen Nel Stander.

) What nonsense is this? It’s not fair as now the other groups will surely be load-shedded more to make up for those areas, Deidre Williams.
