COMEDY of a high standard is promised when the hilarious Loyiso Gola presents a one-night-only show at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre in Summerstrand on Friday (June 5). It starts at 8pm.

Still celebrating news of his breakthrough in Australia, where he has just started hosting a television show, Cape Town-born Gola, who boasts two Emmy nominations among his many accolades, is looking forward to the trip to the city, says Ranique Roberts of his management company.

Fresh from international stages in New York and London, where he performed alongside some seasoned international acts, he returns to South Africa to kick-start his one-man show titled “Loyiso Gola Live,” said Roberts, adding that Gola’s unique sense of humour in telling South African stories with an international feel, had been widely received in the international market.

“He deserves it. He has been working very hard. I am very happy and proud of his achievements,” said Roberts.

The show is an hour-long live comedy performance where Gola, who presents Late Night News (LNN) with Loyiso on eTV, shares his journey and also takes a gaze at our daily life struggles in South Africa in the light-hearted manner he knows best.

“Loyiso Gola Live promises to be a comedy romp full of funny and hard hitting punch-lines - a roller coaster ride in one of the most daring comedy minds this country has seen,” said Roberts.

As Loyiso Gola holds up the mirror to society, the audience is promised a reflection of that society through comedy presented in the most hilarious of ways
