Nipper Open Day to be held at Kings Beach

KINGS Beach Surf Lifesaving Club will be having a Nipper Open Day on Sunday, September 27, at Kings Beach Surf Lifesaving Club from 11am to 2pm.

The day will comprise a mini fun nipper competition, rescue demonstrations, touch rugby, jumping castle, food and drinks for sale and a lot more.

Craig van Rooyen, the Nipper head coach and organiser of the event, invites all parents and children interested to come and see what Nippers has to offer.

“I have put a lot of hours in this pre-season focusing on several areas to improve our basic admin, training structure, and techniques while making sure we still have our priority focused on fun,” Van Rooyen said.

The Nipper Movement is one of the more successful youth development organisations in the country. Nippers, the name given to those kids involved in the Nipper programme, are taught vital life skills, surf safety, general first aid and fitness, together with gamesmanship.

“The Nipper Movement is the nursery of the Voluntary Surf Lifeguard Movement and thus Lifesaving Eastern Cape supports their effort,” said Andrew Marriott, Media Officer, Lifesaving Eastern Cape.

Kings Beach Surf Lifesaving Club’s Nipper programme aims to cater for all children aged 3 to 14 in various programmes and train every Sunday from 11am at Kings Beach. Their season runs from September to the end of April.
