THE Miss South Africa crown is on the line, and Port Elizabeth’s very own Mikaela Oosthuizen (20) is in the running to win the coveted prize.

The Top 25 Miss SA 2016 finalists were announced last week and Oosthuizen is the youngest contestant this year.

Oosthuizen is currently a second year NMMU student, studying towards a degree in Media, Communications and Culture.

“I believe that my age makes me stand out, as a younger Miss SA can easily relate with the youth.”

Mikaela was also Miss Teen SA in 2010, and has always had a passion for people.

“Jumping from student mode to Miss SA mode has been interesting, and I learn a lot from the other 24 ladies here.”

Oosthuizen is currently in Johannesburg, where she and the other finalists are attending workshops on how to carry themselves as young ladies who might walk away with the crown next year in March.

The finalists made their very first appearance on Sunday (October 4) at the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo, in support of the ongoing battle against cancer.

The next stop for the competition is the judging process, and the selection of the Top 12.
