THE popular About IT Triathlon Summer Series, comprising of four race days, will kick off this Saturday at Pollok Beach, with a large contingent of social triathletes expected to attend.

The annual Sprint Distance Triathlon Series will be taking place on December 16, 20 and 23 in Port Elizabeth, while the last day, December 26, will be held in Port St Francis.

It offers the ideal training for both novice and seasoned triathletes. Consisting of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run, the series is open to both individuals and teams.

The 2017 About IT Triathlon Summer Series is supported by Caltex Eastern Cape, Blusmooth wetsuits, Action Cycles, Score Energy Drink and Oracle Media and prizes include R7 500 cash and medals for the overall series winners, as well as a R10 000 bicycle as a lucky draw prize, courtesy of Action Cycles.

The Port Elizabeth races will start at 8am and the Port St Francis race at 8:30am.

Defending series champion Keegan Cooke is one of the athletes to be on the lookout for, together with Ladies’ Nelson Mandela Bay Triathlon Champion Claudia Harcus and top triathlete Antonella Saporta.

Another exciting personality expected to attend is Port Elizabeth’s world disabled triathlon champion, Charl Parkin, who excels in the sport despite having only been involved in it since earlier this year.

Online registration per race is recommended and can be made at www.trisummerseries.co.za. Entry on the day will include a R50 late entry fee.
