GOLDEN Aces earned themselves a 1-1 draw away to Motherwell Academy in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League clash at the Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Saturday.

The home side were arguably the better side and looked to collect the maximum points when Vuyolwethu Dinge found the back of the net in the 25th minute.

Motherwell enjoyed the lion’s share of ball possession, but Aces’ goalkeeper Yolanda Mana went untested as his defence did their homework, limiting the host strikers to only a couple of half opportunities.

The long-awaited goal came after Bulelani Nongongoma sent a long range salvo which goalkeeper Mana failed to deal with in the 39th minute.

Aces’ new kid on the block, Liyema Pali, made matters complicated for Motherwell’s defence. The hosts nearly lost their chance after Siyanda Nyembezi pulled a long range shot that Motherwell goalkeeper Siyabonga Ntonga tipped over the bar in the 59th minute.

However, the visiting side once again took control of the game as Pali tormented Motherwell’s defence. Eventually, the equaliser, courtesy of Nyembezi, saw Aces sharing the 1-1 draw in the 85th minute. The draw was a true reflection of the game as both sides gave a good account of themselves.

Young Teenagers, affectionately called AmaChina by their diehard supporters, ended their winless run with a 3-2 away victory over Motherwell School of Excellence FC at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Friday evening. Major Chiefs restored their dignity after they outplayed the once high riding Highland Spurs 3-0 at Zwide Stadium on Sunday.

Amarhamba United also stunned Madibaz Football 2-0 at South Campus in Summerstrand on Friday evening. According to the Chevrolet Stadium caretaker, Sikhumbuzo Wakashe, the PE Sundowns-Madibaz Football clash could not take place last Sunday. Wakashe stated that the stadium was not booked by the regional league.

SAFA NMB SAB Regional League results:

Sibanye Colts 1-1 Camper United

PE Sundowns 0-0 FC Winners

Stinging Bees 3-2 Bush Bucks

PE Sundowns 1-1 Madibaz Football

Bush Bucks 3-3 Amarhamba United
