THE Lake Farm Centre charity event, hosted by the Achilles Running Club will offer an action-packed weekend this year, which includes road and trail running as well as mountain bike riding in the country aimed at the whole family this Saturday and Sunday.

The club, which has organised the run for many years, has expanded the weekend event programme to cater for all ages and levels of fitness.

Achilles club secretary Graham Channon said, “We encourage families to come out to Lake Farm Centre for a superb outdoor outing, fresh air, exercise and tea treats, all for a great cause.”

Lake Farm Centre will celebrate the 23rd edition of their annual charity event with a full package of events appealing to the whole family over the weekend. On Saturday, road events include a 24km training run as well as the popular 10km and 5km routes.

On the trail, entrants can choose between the family fun 2km walk or the popular 4km and 15km distances.

On Sunday, mountain bikers can choose between three distances, 2.7km for the kids, 14km and a 20km ride. A jumping castle will also be available for the children as well as the popular country pony rides, while the adults can relax to the sounds of the well-known Lake Farm Centre Band and win fantastic prizes in their generous lucky draw.

All entrants can participate in the fun auction which has become a key part of the fund-raising weekend. Luxury weekends, Adidas premium running shoes and much more will be auctioned by Kingfisher FM’s Gareth Burley.

The prize-giving starts at 09:45 and will be followed by the lucky draw and auction.

Entrants will also be able to enjoy a morning in the country with Lake Farm Centre’s famous tea room’s scones and cream, pancakes, boerewors rolls and fresh farm market.

All finishers will receive unique handmade medals, created by the Lake Farm Centre residents. Entries are available online at or from Action Sports, Brian Bands, The Footballer, and Brocketts Sports in Uitenhage before close of business today.
